1. Octavia, in her previous life, had quite a large family. In fact, in Chapter 2, we hear of an old family photo of the Romanovs featuring both Octavia when she was Anastasia, and Alexei. But if you take the first initials of everyone else in that picture called Romanov, and only the surname initial from anyone not named Romanov, can you mix them all together to make a word? That word might also be someone with similar interests to the Nightingales.
2. A number of noble and royal titles appear throughout the whole of the Lost Legacy. From Octavia and her family, through to Aria Barozzi. But how many can you remember, including ones only mentioned once or in passing?
3. We meet the wonderful Carter family in the Lost Legacy, including the dashing Reynard, Cordelia’s older brother. But can you remember what their eldest brother is called? And can you research why three siblings with, similar-ish names, might also find the youngest Cordelia to always be the favourite?

4. The Carters are also a dab hand at languages. But can you name all the different languages that appear in the Lost Legacy? (Before you put your answer down, remember that the Festival Di Venezia is a very international event!)
5. What is missing in between when Wendington first meets the Contessa at her villa in Venice, and when Wendington returns to the Hotel Lucrezia to tell Rohan and Cordelia all about it?
6. The Premio Di Venezia is the height of European fashion where everyone who’s anyone in 1921 Europe wants to be. As a result, Wendington sports many a fancy outfit in her travels from home to Venice and then beyond. But can you arrange these colours in the order in which she first wears them? Yellow, blue, white, red, green, cream.
7. We’re told that the Contessa’s masquerade ball was inspired by some travelling she did after the Great War. We’re also informed of her glamorous style as well as her secretive actions around the amber. So, given all these clues, can you put together where and when is the first time we meet the Contessa during Wendington’s adventures? Does this give you any clues as to who the mysterious other person on the balcony is?

8. Who dresses like a famed, Dick, Edward and Charlie? The first two of whom were famous for exploits that happened before the setting of The Lost Legacy, while the latter found fame six years later, heading to the same place that Wendington does by the end of the book? Can you name the famous Dick, Edward and Charlie’s in question?

9. Paris is divided into twenty arrondissements, which are small areas each with common characteristics and themes that have grown over time. Chiara’s apartment is on the border of the 5th and 13th, while the Dominos’ is in the 9th. Doing a little research, why do these arrondissements suit those characters who live in them? And which characters, from Wendington Jones and the Missing Tree, who we also know live in Paris, might also find a home in the 13th arrondissement?
10. When Wendington and Miss Fry meet again at Wendington’s house, Miss Fry mentions that there were some nice similarities between the tale of Pip in Great Expectation and those of Wendington and Octavia. But look up Great Expectations, (or even better give it a read!), and work out if you can find any others.
Now you have your answers, see just how right you were!
